This June a few of Brunswick’s French students will be traveling to a country full of artistic adventure and photography, France. There are many sites worth taking a picture of, yet I have described only two of the more famous ones.
The ingenious Leonardo da Vinci created the Mona Lisa in 1503-1506. Born in Florence, Italy, the Mona Lisa has been moved to its current location, The Louvre, Paris, France. Over the ages, people have observed every critical aspect to the portrait, yet no one knows why she is smiling. Theories have been made, yet none taken too seriously. Millions of people view the Mona each day, producing countless pictures of her age-old beauty.
Soaring 276 meters above Paris grounds is the well-known Eiffel Tower. On the ground level of the tower is
historic, 1899 elevator machinery equipment that has been restored to working condition several times over century. An exchange station is also found here to collect the local currency. A Pairs information center is also here for visitors fro mall around the world. On the first floor a museum of historic engineered objects that were, at one time, put to use in the tower. These unique structures are put on display in a beautiful fashion and make great photographs for those who enjoy ancient industrial engineering. An observatory is also here, along
with a post office, a photo booth, and Internet stations, where you can send virtual post stamps to friend and family. Two amazing restaurants are located in the tower. One restaurant is located on the first floor and another on the second, where, Alain Reix, one of the world’s best chefs, can be found. The restaurants overlook the Seine River, another great object of photography in this magical city.
The second floor contains a souvenir shop, where one can purchase pictures of the tower. There are also out looking windows that overlook the city, a great position to take semi-aerial photos. Animated window scenes provide a modern form of a museum that informs viziers of the city’s history and art. The top floor is composed of panoramic viewpoints and a representation of Gustave Eiffel’s office that existed years ago. The illuminations and lights of the tower make a beautiful nighttime landscape. The Tower’s new sparkling lights turn on, on the hour, every hour for ten minutes until 2 am during the summer, so make sure you show up on time to capture its beauty!
