DEB BITZAN
DARKROOM REPRESENTATIVE
As Second Semester begins, that time of year that hassles us the most is coming closer. Yes that’s right, in only a month or two our counselors will be on our backs, asking us to choose classes that we want to take and to turn them in ASAP. Later, they’ll return our forms and tell us to pick something else since they couldn’t fit us in. We’ve all been through it, you end up having to drop an interesting class to fit that awful Chem or English class in.
Let me direct your attention towards something that you all may not be aware of. For you upcoming Juniors and Seniors there is a chance to expand your photographic knowledge that you really should not ignore. At Cuyahoga Community College and The University of Akron, photography classes are offered to high school students through PSO (Post Secondary Option). At Tri-C alone, four classes are offered all with lecture and darkroom lab credit hours. If you would like to look into these options you can talk with your guidance counselor or go the College's websites where you will find course descriptions and prerequisite info. Course books are also available in the guidance office. Please keep in mind that all PSO classes are FREE and paid for by the school with the exception of books and material fees (which they reimburse you for anyway).
