Last month the cold weather embraced Northeast Ohio just in time for one of the Medina’s well-known and much appreciated events…the Ice Festival. It was the 11th Annual Ice Festival and home to plenty of gorgeous ice sculptures that in spite of the icy cold weather brought people to the historic town square in Medina.
The festival started on February 18 and lasted until February 21. It provided a great opportunity for our Photo Club (and many other people) to go explore new things and take a variety of great photos. Nevertheless, we did not stop there. On Saturday the 19th and Photo Club (Adriana, Kim, and Chris accompanied by our advisor Mrs. LaForge) engaged in a great fundraiser on the premises of the Ice Festival. We could say we were the luckiest people there because all we got to see was smiling people that we took photos of. We took Polaroid photos for $5.00 (for people that wanted to get an instant souvenir), Digital ones that we sent to people’s email addresses for $5.00 as well (for those that valued quality over time), and Digital 5 x 7s that we sent through the mail. Using all means of keeping ourselves warm and a positive attitude helped us raise quite a bit of money, which will come to great use once we start building the darkroom.
However, do not forget about the Medina Ice Festival 2005 Photo Contest, and submit your favorite “ice sculpture” photos before March 18. You could win $100 for 1st place, $50 for 2nd place, or $25 for 3rd place. Photographs must be submitted to:
Elegant Ice Creations
PO Box 1525
Medina, OH 44258-1525
For more information and a submission form, contact Mrs. LaForge.
